We are a Jerusalem-based NGO, with Israeli and Palestinian staff and board members. As active members of the peacebuilding field, we work alongside the organizations we aim to serve.

OUR STORY

Amal-Tikva emerged from countless conversations between its cofounders, Basheer Abu Baker and Meredith Rothbart. As leaders and colleagues in the peacebuilding field,

they witnessed organizations repeatedly

struggling with common challenges -

from funding cuts to ineffective

strategies - with nowhere to turn for

support.

In 2019, they co-founded Amal-Tikva

to fill this need.

The following year, they conducted a

comprehensive mapping of the peacebuilding field that confirmed their insights: while individual organizations worked tirelessly, they lacked the strategic planning, skills, resources, and coordination needed for sustainable impact.

Today, Amal-Tikva plays a vital role within the peacebuilding field. We identify critical gaps and respond with targeted solutions: innovative programs, strategic partnerships, and facilitated dialogues that strengthen every level of the peacebuilding ecosystem. As demand for our programs, services, and expertise continues to surge, we're scaling strategically—while helping our partners do the same.

OUR MISSION

Amal-Tikva's mission is to create the infrastructure needed for peacebuilding to become a professional field capable of achieving lasting, scalable social change within and across Israeli and Palestinian societies. We work to achieve this through research, capacity-building, leadership training, and outreach.

OUR VISION

We envision a nonviolent reality for Israelis and Palestinians, sustained by mutually beneficial systems within and across both societies, where each side’s national and religious aspirations can be realized.

We strive for a future where the cycle of violence ends, where the conflict feels less intractable, and where political capital is deployed toward peace at the social, economic, religious, and community levels.
